FR- Tourné en une semaine dans la communauté d’Alert Bay, tout proche de l'île de Vancouver, As Long as the Days Shall Dawn on the World suit Gord, Alfred et Bruce, trois artistes kwakwaka’wakw dont la pratique se déploie au cœur d’un territoire marqué par l’histoire coloniale. Leur art n’est pas décoratif : il est geste de survie et d’affirmation. Le film explore la tension entre création et dépossession, mémoire et continuité, montrant comment l’art devient ici un espace de résistance culturelle et de solidarité politique.
Réalisé dans le cadre de la maîtrise en Film Production à l'université Concordia et soutenu par la bourse Bill McLennan Northwest Coast Travel Award de la Fondation Doggone, le projet s’inscrit dans une démarche de cinéma attentif aux manières d’habiter le monde : filmer pour comprendre, pour relier, pour faire entendre ce qui persiste malgré tout.

Their art is not ornamental; it is an act of survival and affirmation. The film explores the tension between creation and dispossession, memory and continuity, revealing how art becomes a space of cultural resistance and political solidarity.
Made as part of the Master’s in Film Production at Concordia University and supported by the Bill McLennan Northwest Coast Travel Award from the Doggone Foundation, the project is rooted in a cinema attentive to the ways of inhabiting the world — filming to understand, to connect, and to give voice to what endures despite everything.
